Center For Global Missions

The Center for Global Missions will be hosting a public lecture on Thursday, Sept. 10th, 2015 at 7pm in Scott Chapel.  Dr. Richard Beck, chair of the psychology department at Abilene Christian University, will be speaking on the theme "Practice Resurrection: Loving in a World of Fear" based off his most recent book The Slavery of Death (Cascade Books, 2014).  His lecture will be interdisciplinary combining existential psychology with Biblical theology.  He does a masterful job of using tools and concepts from the discipline of psychology to help us to reflect on God and His mission in the world, particularly how the resurrection shapes us for mission.

This lecture promises to be a fruitful conversation for spiritual formation, academic inquiry and practical ministry.  Students will receive Kudos for this event.  Please direct your questions to Ben Langford at

The GO retreat will be Sept. 11th-12th at the Refuge in OKC. The GO Retreat is for any student who has participated in a mission or ministry experience this summer or who want to participate in God's mission in the future. Dr. Richard Beck will be our speaker and the theme is "Embrace." Beck will help us explore the missional impulse to cross boundaries and embrace others for the sake of Christ. At the retreat, we will worship, learn about God's mission, share in the ways he is moving and prepare to go into his world. Students will receive Kudos for this event. Cost is $20. Sign up at the GO table outside the OC Cafe beginning Wednesday, Sept. 2nd.
