"New friends, new passions, and new purpose." - HSA Alum
JULY 8-13, 2018
2018 HSA features classes in Engineering, Bible, Humanities, and Sciences with a new course, ¡Charlemos! Let’s Chat! Spanish Immersion Lab taught by Dr. Tina Ware.
Oklahoma Christian University Honors Summer Academy is an annual, one-week college experience hosted by OC's Honors Program to encourage the pursuit of excellence by gifted and talented students presently in 9th-11th grade. It is held on the OC campus.
The program accepts high school students who already have demonstrated excellence in academics seeking to develop those skills for exceptional university performance. By the end of the program, students will have developed the confidence to continue their academic trajectory of excellence, linked academics to their faith, and demonstrated the impact of experiential learning in academic and in service activity.
We believe confidence in these core skills will contribute to increased resilience and persistence necessary to achieve exceptional performance following high school graduation.
Each participant may earn two hours of transferable university credit by selecting two courses from the appropriate grade level. Credits are based on face-to-face instruction time as well as Blackboard/internet activity before the time in residence at OC. HSA faculty are OC Master Teachers.
High school students in 9th-11th grade with a minimum score of a 21 ACT; or 1040 on the new SAT or 1020 on the new PSAT including Reading, Math, Writing; or a 980/98 with Math and Reading on the old testing format. Many high school students have not taken tests yet and can send a letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor to apply to the Academy. The application and $100 deposit (refunded if you are not accepted) will serve to differentiate you from the other candidates, helping us to select the final participants. (Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you need assistance.)
The cost for 2018 is $600. Total value is over $1,400, but OC provides tuition remission scholarships valued at over $800 to bring the cost to $600. A $100 deposit is required when you apply with complete payment due by April 30th. Apply before December 31st for an early $50 discount and/or get a friend to apply for a $50.00 discount.
