Travis Montgomery Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Language and Literature

An American literature specialist, Dr. Montgomery regularly teaches Perspectives in Literature, an offering for non-majors. Literary Criticism and Introduction to Writing about Literature are other courses in his pedagogical repertoire. He advises English Education majors, and he is a faculty sponsor for the Oklahoma Epsilon chapter of the honor society Alpha Chi. Active within the profession, Dr. Montgomery is Secretary of the Poe Studies Association, and his publications include a chapter in The Cambridge Companion to American Gothic and essays in periodicals such as Gothic Studies and The Southern Literary Journal.

Dr. Montgomery appreciates his department’s commitment to keeping class sizes as small as possible so that students have plenty of opportunities to work directly with each other and with instructors. Such an environment is, he believes, ideal for helping OC students reach their personal academic goals.

During off-campus hours, Dr. Montgomery visits used bookstores and watches movies with his wife Janna.
