Ryan Newell Ph.D.

Professor of Psychology

Ryan earned his doctorate in Guidance and Counseling with an emphasis in family therapy and a minor in research and statistics at the University of Toledo in 1994. After working in Toledo, Ohio for 6 years in community mental health and the municipal court system, he came to OC in 1992. He teaches courses in Research Methods, Statistics, Abnormal Psychology, Cybernetics and Systems Theory and has served as faculty sponsor for OC’s Psychology Club, Psi Chi, since 1992. Newell is an active member of the American Psychological Society and serves as president for the Oklahoma Psychological Society. Newell is also licensed as a Behavioral Practitioner in the state of Oklahoma and maintains a private practice in marriage and family therapy. Ryan and his wife, Tamara, are active members of Wilshire church of Christ in Oklahoma City where Ryan currently serves as Elder. They have raised two children: Brent Newell and Amber Rose. Both children are 2007 graduates: Brent from Cascade College in Portland, OR and Amber from Oklahoma Christian University.
