John Harrison Ph.D.

Professor of New Testament

Dr. Harrison has been Professor of New Testament and Ministry at Oklahoma Christian since January 2000. Before coming to OC he was the Pulpit Minister for the Carrollton Ave. Church of Christ, New Orleans, LA and the Austin Street Church of Christ in Garland, Texas. He regularly preaches and teaches for churches. His primary interests are in historical Jesus research, the Gospels, the parables of Jesus, early Christology, Jesus and Media, Second Temple Judaism and the dynamics of healthy congregational life. John has contributed several book reviews for academic journals, is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the Institute for Biblical Research. He has presented papers on NT research at regional, national, and international academic conferences. He is the co-editor of The New Testament Church: The Challenge of Developing Ecclesiologies (Wipf & Stock Publishers) and co-authored Longevity in Leadership: Essential Qualities of Longtime Leaders (ACU Press). John is currently the elected co-Chair of the International Society of Biblical Literature Synoptic Gospels section.
