Byron Newberry M.S.M.E., Ph.D.

Associate Provost, Graduate and Global Programs / Dean & Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Byron Newberry serves as Dean of Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics, as well as Associate Provost of Graduate Programs at Oklahoma Christian University. Dr. Newberry is a tenured Professor of Mechanical Engineering, providing expertise in vibrations, dynamic systems, and computational mechanics. He has been involved with OC Engineering from the beginning, attending as part of the 2nd engineering class to exist at what was then called Oklahoma Christian College.

Dr. Newberry joined Oklahoma Christian in 2001. Since that time, he has served in various roles, including the Chair of Mechanical Engineering and the Chair of Graduate Engineering. He holds advanced degrees from The University of Michigan and brings valuable industry experience from both the energy and research sectors. Dr. Newberry received the Rowe Distinguished Scholar Award in 2010 and is routinely involved in research with undergraduate students at Oklahoma Christian University.

Dr. Newberry and his wife Tammy attend the Memorial Road Church of Christ, where Byron serves as an Elder. He and Tammy have two children. Isaac is attending Abilene Christian University where he is studying theology. Olivia is a sophomore at North High School and, ideally, plans to attend Oklahoma Christian in three years.
