  • Teaches Oral Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Persuasion, Family Communication, Argumentation & Debate, and Film & Religious Faith
  • Teaches in the Honors program and serves as faculty advisor to the Honors Advisory Council
  • His current research interest is in religious communication, specifically how apostates communicate the changes in their religious beliefs.
  • Published research in Journalism Quarterly, The Journal of Popular Music and Society, Media Ethics: Issues and Cases, Media Coverage of Terrorism, and Sex, Religion and Media, and The Northwest Journal of Communication.
  • Published two books: Falling Away: Why Christians Lose Their Faith and What Can Be Done About It (Abilene Christian University Press, 2005) and Wandering in the Wilderness: The Changes and Challenges in Emerging Adults’ Christian Faith(Leafwood Publishers, 2009).
  • Brian is a devout Oakland Raiders fan.
  • He oversees the weekly Taking Sides chapel.
  • Brian thinks that Chick-Fil-A is a cult!
