Bobby Kern Ph.D.

Associate Professor Psychology & Family Science

Bobby Kern came to Oklahoma Christian in 2012, after spending a decade working in family ministry. Bobby completed his doctoral work in Family Science at Oklahoma State University. While there he served as the regional program coordinator for the Fathers Count! Research Project, a multi-site project examining the role of fathers and father figures in the lives of African American and Latino boys. Bobby’s research interests include fathering, families and religion, and resilience perspectives. He currently teaches courses in family development, developmental psychology, human sexuality, child welfare, gerontology, and family resilience. Bobby is a member of the National Council on Family Relations and serves as a board member for its state affiliate, the Oklahoma Council on Family Relations. Bobby and his wife, Lisa, are active members at the Memorial Road church of Christ, serving as small group leaders. They have two children, Lydia and Josiah, who keep their calendars full and their faces smiling.
