University Chorale
The Oklahoma Christian University Chorale is the largest choral ensemble and is comprised of 60 undergraduate students. Since Dr. Harold Fletcher founded the choral program in 1950, the choirs have continued to develop a tradition of excellence in choral artistry. Recent performances of major works include Paul Mealor’s Stabat Mater and Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Dona Nobis Pacem. In 2025, the University Chorale will perform Mozart Vespers (Vesperae silences de confessor). The University Chorale is comprised of talented student singers from a variety of academic majors.
Along with performances as a part of the University Chorale, students can audition for the Intercollegiate Choir at the state-wide Oklahoma Music Educators Association convention in January. The University Chorale primarily prepares for major on-campus concerts and an annual end-of-year tour. Throughout its history, the Chorale has performed in major cities, including Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago and New York City.
Chamber Singers
The OC Chamber Singers is comprised of 35 members who also sing in the University Chorale. The Chamber Singers focus on advanced choral literature and have been featured as an honor choir at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association conventions in recent years. The Chamber Singers regularly perform the latest and most challenging pieces of the choral repertoire, along with the music of the period. Recently featured contemporary composers include Runestad, Hagenberg, Whitacre and more. The Chamber Singers can also be found performing at campus events and in the community.
