Tony's Alley Beautifies Campus
Tony’s Alley, a new garden honoring beloved late professor Dr. Tony Alley, made its debut over the summer.
The garden features landscaping, lighting, flowers, trees, large stones for seating areas where teachers can hold classes, and Internet access. It is located outside Alley’s former office on the north side of the Garvey Center.
A groundbreaking event in April also marked the beginning of the Tony Alley Memorial Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a student of merit in the Department of Art and Design.
Alley began at Oklahoma Christian in 1995 as an assistant professor of education, then became a professor of the new media program from 2005 until his passing in 2008.
“I’m just a student who looked up to Tony,” senior Skyler Thomas told the Talon. “He was very influential and always there to help. He always asked what he could do for me.”
