Student Honored as Goldwater Scholar
Nick Conley, an honors/biochemistry major from Antioch, Tenn., was named an Honorable Mention Goldwater Scholar for Tennessee.
An independent review committee evaluated 1,123 nominations and recommended the most outstanding nominees from each state.
“Nick is a promising student researcher who has performed very well in a challenging program,” said Tim VanWagoner (94), assistant professor of biology and chair of the OC biology department. “This recognition demonstrates the importance of experiential learning to the academic development of young scholars.”
Conley published two technical papers with chemistry professor Bill Luttrell in a national chemistry journal. Conley also presented his research at Oklahoma Academy of Science technical meetings the past two years.
