Stanford, Moon receive Ms. Eagle, Mr. Eagle awards
Seniors John Moon and McKenzie Stanford earned the highest honors in OC athletics for the 2016-17 academic year.
Stanford earned NCAA Division II and NCCAA honors in basketball and was a NCCAA All-American in track and field, making her one of just two OC females (along with Roz Hamilton) to be an All-American in two unrelated sports.
Moon became OC’s first Division II basketball All-America selection in 2016. He finished atop both the Heartland Conference and OC career list for blocked shots with 237.
He was second on the Heartland’s all-time rebounding list with 812 and third on the league’s career scoring list with 1,881 points.
His career scoring total, highlighted by a single-game record 50 points, also ranked fifth in OC’s storied hoops history.
Both Moon and Stanford earned Oklahoma’s Division II player of the year honors from OklahomaSports.net.
