Spring Student-Athletes Excel in Classroom
OC’s spring sports teams enjoyed a fruitful season in athletic competition and in the classroom.
Men’s golf national champion Oscar Stark also made his mark academically as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. NAIA Scholar-Athletes must have junior academic status and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
The OC track and field team tallied five NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards. Jacob Wolf earned the honor for the fourth time overall, twice in cross country and twice in track and field.
From the Lady Eagle track and field squad, Cady Block, Kristi Edwards, Samantha Foshee, and Leah Kniffen all garnered Scholar-Athlete honors.
Block, Edwards, and Foshee were all second-time honorees, with Block’s previous award coming in cross country.
Esteban Flores, Thomas Van Cauter, and Maxim Salitra earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors in men’s tennis.
OC softball player Deidre Chatigny was named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete for the second time. She also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team.
