OC Boasts Large Marathon Group
The eighth-annual Mike McDonald Eagle Run raised around $8,400 for OC student scholarships in April.
The 5K run/walk, held in honor of the former OC vice president of alumni relations, who lost his life to cancer in 2003, attracted 89 participants this year.
Also in April, more than 450 OC students, staff, faculty and alumni participated in the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.
A few groups and departments team up every year for the relay, half marathon and marathon. OC had more participants than any other organization from 2007 to 2010, and had one of the largest groups this year.
“This event brings our campus together and allows us to support our local community,” said Director of Admissions Darci (Grisso 00) Thompson, who coordinates OC’s effort.
