New Services for Alumni
A bigger and better Homecoming is just one of many enhancements for OC alumni.
The new Eagle Discount Card is a way for us to say “thank you” for your place in the OC family. These personalized discount cards provide 50% off home basketball game tickets in the regular season, 50% off all theater events (including the Homecoming Musical), 10% off campus bookstore purchases, and up to 50% off campus dining services. If you haven’t received your Eagle Discount Card already, look for it in your mailbox soon.
Free music will soon be on its way to you, too. Our new oTunes program will offer you free downloads of music by OC alumni each month. We hope you enjoy this opportunity to hear many of the talented artists in the OC family.
If you don’t have enough OC swag around the house, we have several programs to help you solve that problem! If you have a birth in the family, submit your milestone at www.oc.edu/alumni and we’ll send your new bundle of joy a “Lil’ Eagle” t-shirt. We also have new OC backsacks that we’re sending to first-grade students, plus OC lanyards and keychains that we’ll send to your teens around their 16th birthday.
A new alumni directory is in the works. Even with social media and other technology, printed alumni directories continue to be useful tools for locating friends and classmates. It also provides an opportunity for us to update our complete alumni records. Whether or not you plan to purchase a directory, we encourage you to update your records when you’re contacted this fall.
OC is helping sponsor Church of Christ Weekend at Silver Dollar City in Branson October 7-9. Discounted hotel rooms and discounted tickets to the park and other special events are available. Call Emily Stringer at 405.425.5112 or go to www.oc.edu/branson for more info.
In the spring, the Alumni Office sponsored “Senior Sendoff” activities for OC’s 2011 graduates. The events, offered at no cost to the seniors, included dinners, a trip to Celebration Station and an Oklahoma City Thunder NBA game. More activities are planned for spring 2012. For more information about how you can help with “Senior Sendoff,” contact Bob Lashley at (405) 425-5120.
The North Texas Alumni Chapter raised $45,000 for student scholarships at its annual auction in April. Led by chapter president Pat Lawson, the chapter has raised almost $150,000 in scholarship funds over the last eight years.
The new Oklahoma City and Tulsa alumni chapters are ramping up. For more info about how you can get involved, contact Eugene Howland (90) in Oklahoma City and Kevin (01) and Devin (01) Lawrence in Tulsa.
Chris Adair (97) has joined the Alumni Office as the director of alumni communications and research. His role will help connect alumni and help us improve our records so we can serve you better.
The Alumni Office also is working on a partnership with OC’s Career Center to generate more job leads for students and alumni. Look for more information about this networking program in upcoming Eagle Excerpts email newsletters.
If you don’t receive Eagle Excerpts or have any questions about our new alumni initiatives, contact Dana Holley at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (405) 425-5110.
