Mayor, OC students highlight mental health
Oklahoma City mayor Mick Cornett spoke in a March Chapel as part of OC students’ Not OK is OK campaign to emphasize the signs of emotional suffering.
As Fitness Magazine’s Champion of Health and Fitness and Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Champion of Oklahoma Health, Cornett has made great strides to make Oklahoma City healthier.
In his recent State of the City address, he challenged Oklahomans to take mental health more seriously. According to the National Alliance on Mental Health, 73 percent of college students have experienced a mental health crisis.
OC’s student-run Eagle PR team led the Not OK is OK campaign in partnership with the Eagles Health Initiative and U!Shine, a mental health organization founded by OC alumna Jennifer (Allcorn 97) Winton.
