Be Our Guest: Homecoming 2011
That’s more than this year’s Homecoming theme. It’s a signature song from one of the biggest productions to ever hit the OC stage.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, featuring the set and costumes from the production’s world regional premiere, will come to Oklahoma Christian during Homecoming weekend.
Hardeman Auditorium will host three performances of the Broadway musical – November 3, 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. each night.
The professional set and costumes come to the OC stage from the Cumberland County Playhouse in Crossville, Tennessee.
“Experiencing this beloved show with lavish costumes in an extravagant setting will be an unforgettable event for our student performers and for the audience,” said Chorale director Dr. Ken Adams (69), who will retire at the end of this academic year.
OC alumnus Chad Anderson (98) will direct the musical, featuring music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and adapted from the book by Linda Woolverton.
For ticket information and other info about the musical, go to www.oc.edu/beautyandthebeast or call (405) 425-5540.
Other special Homecoming events include Friday night’s Alumni Banquet, honoring distinguished alumni Terry and Marty Johnson, Legacy Award winners Richard and Pat Lawson and family, distinguished young alumni Ben Langford and his late brother Adam, and a notable group of distinguished honorary alumni.
For tickets to the Alumni Banquet, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (405) 425-5110. Banquet tickets are $20.
Club reunions, breakfast with your favorite professors, the 60s Alumni Breakfast and Homecoming Chapel highlight the Saturday morning activities.
We’ll gather in the Eagles’ Nest for the annual Homecoming basketball games on Saturday afternoon.
That evening, alumni from the 1960s will return to the venue now known as the Dave Smith Athletic Center for the “Back to the Barn Bash.”
It’s going to be a fun weekend of food, fun, fellowship and memories!
