This Is My Father’s World

Date recorded: February 03, 2012

Words by: Maltbie Davenport Babcock (Mary Crawford Babcock)

Music by: Franklin Lawrence Sheppard

This is my Father’s world,
And to my list’ning ears,
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world,
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world,
The birds their carols raise;
The morning light, the lily white
Declare their Maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world,
He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father’s world,
Oh, let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world,
The battle is not done;
Jesus who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and heav’n be one.

I too wish I had a library of the old hymns, before they are all gone forever. There is something about the old hymns that make you feel safe, and I am deeply saddened by their non existence in our worship services today. The hymns flow like rivers along green pastures and convict, re- affirm, and place the highest glory to our precious Lord Jesus, whom the world needs so desperately. The “post modern culture” with their bubble gum praise songs, will never rise in eternity in joyful worship of our great God. Whatever can not pass the test there, should not be embraced by the church here. When the trumpet sounds, I’m outta here…………………………..

We do not sell CDs of these recordings. You are more than welcome to download the mp3 files for use on mp3 players or to create your own CDs.

I love your website! I don’t mind the new songs (too much ), but these classics have a way of capturing such wealth of thought from God’s word and zapping it right to the heart/mind. I’d be very appreciative if you could add a personal favorite, “Children of The Heavenly Father” to your to-do list. Thanks to all who make this available. God bless.

Thank you for this website. Our congregation church of Christ in Briar Texas just had their first Wednesday of the month singing. That is my favorite time to sing and hear singing in a Capella.
