If for the prize we have striven,
After our labors are o’er,
Rest to our souls will be given,
On the eternal shore.
Yes, a sweet rest is remaining
For the true children of God,
Where there will be no complaining,
Never a chast’ning rod.
Soon, the bright homeland adoring,
We shall behold the glad dawn;
Lean on the Lord till the morning,
Trust till the night is gone.
Home of the soul, beautiful home,
There we shall rest, never to roam;
Free from all care, happy and bright,
Jesus is there, He is the light!
Oft in the storm, lonely are we,
Sighing for home, longing for thee,
Beautiful home of the ransomed,
beside the crystal sea.

As a child the choir used tossing this song. This mooring I woke up with it on my heart, so I googled and discovered your website. It was amazing hearing the earthly choir sing it. O what a glory it will be when we gather around the throne of God in heaven!! God bless you.

I just discovered that this song was sung at my grandmother’s funeral in January 1918. Even tho my grandfather was a pastor and I grew up in church, I had never heard of this song before. Thank you for having it on your site it brings me a little closer to knowing a lady who died 3 years before I was born.

Thank you guys for this website. I signed up for song leading for a convention and I didn’t have the song lyrics and you guys really helped me out. Can’t wait to sing with my brothers and sisters in heaven.

Thanks for your site. I have been roped into helping a senior choir to sing this song that I didn’t know. And your rendition helped to me to like the song as well as prepare to join in with our choir. Hopefully we do it as much justice as your choir has on this site. It will be wonderful when we join together in the mass choir in heaven and in the earth made new for ever.

Thanks for your site. I have enjoyed several of the songs, especially “Home of the Soul”. This reminds me of my Mother, who told me many times of the choir she and her family were members of in eastern Kentucky. God bless your praises of our Lord and Savior. Can you imagine the great choir of Heaven? Anna
