Oklahoma Christian University's (OC) Marriage and Family Therapy program has earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), the national standard for excellence in MFT education and clinical training. The designation recognizes programs that meet rigorous national standards across curriculum, clinical training and student outcomes.

"To date, OC is only the second institution in Oklahoma to receive this status, which is testament to its quality," said Dr. Brent Sykes, Dean of the College of Sciences and Education. "Training therapists to work for the good of individuals, families and communities across our state is imperative to OC’s mission."

"OC’s accreditation reflects the strength of our curriculum, the dedication of our faculty and our commitment to preparing ethical and compassionate therapists to serve individuals, couples and families," said Dr. Jessica Colls, OC MFT Program Director and AAMFT Supervisor. "It is a meaningful milestone for our program and the communities we are called to serve."

The OC MFT program emphasizes clinical excellence and experiential learning, preparing graduates to serve individuals, couples and families in a variety of professional settings. That training comes to life through OC’s Family Therapy Clinic, which provides affordable mental health services to the Oklahoma City and Edmond communities through master's level clinical interns supervised by licensed faculty, with 90% of clients reporting they would recommend the clinic's services to others.

COAMFTE accreditation offers current and prospective students significant professional advantages, including national recognition of their degree, enhanced preparation for licensure, increased competitiveness for employment and doctoral opportunities and confidence in the quality of their educational experience.
