Oklahoma Christian University to Present “Beauty and the Beast” for 2024 Homecoming Musical
OC will also host a “Tea with Belle and Friends” for little princesses and princes
OC will present “Beauty and the Beast,” a stage musical based on the Walt Disney Animation Studios 1991 film by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. The performances will occur on Nov. 1 and 2, during the university’s homecoming weekend. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in Baugh Auditorium, located in the Garvey Center on OC’s campus.
“We are thrilled to bring a musical classic to the stage at Oklahoma Christian,” director Charlotte Hamil said. “Beauty and the Beast is a musical classic that teaches valuable lessons through captivating storytelling and music. It encourages compassion for others, courage and friendship. The beloved songs are ones we look forward to bringing to life for our audiences.”
The original Broadway production of “Beauty and the Beast” opened in 1994 and ran for 13 years with 5,461 performances. It includes iconic, award-winning music by Alan Menken with familiar songs like “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
Led by OC music majors Madeline Lewis as Belle and Houston Goff as the Beast, OC’s cast features a talented ensemble of students. The production team includes music director and orchestra conductor Dan Bircher, producer Amanda Watson and stage managers Reese Woodzell and Lexus Blue.
"As a timeless favorite, Beauty and the Beast will be a memorable addition to our homecoming festivities,” Watson said. “The cast is skilled and such a joy to watch. They give an incredible performance, and the music will be unforgettable.”
“Beauty and the Beast” tickets are $25 for the public, with discounted and free performance options for OC alumni, students and employees — purchase or reserved online here.
For little princesses and princes in the community, “Tea with Belle and Friends” tickets are also on sale for $11.50 for children and free for adults.
