Oklahoma Christian University Appoints Chris Young as Senior Vice President for Advancement and Athletics
Oklahoma Christian University (OC) recently announced the appointment of Chris Young, a 2000 OC graduate and accomplished athletic leader, as Senior Vice President for Advancement and Athletics. Young brings more than two decades of distinguished leadership experience across both coaching and institutional development.
Before the appointment, Young served as head coach of women's tennis at Oklahoma State University, where he led the Cowgirls to an unprecedented 12 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, captured multiple Big 12 championships and advanced the program to a national runner-up finish. Beyond his coaching excellence, Young played an integral role in significant fundraising initiatives that strengthened OSU's athletic enterprise. His tenure also includes successful coaching positions at OC and Wichita State University and the honor of OC’s 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award.
"As Oklahoma Christian University pursues its strategic vision to become a distinctly Christian Kingdom University, securing visionary leadership in advancement and athletics is significant," said President of Oklahoma Christian University, Dr. L. Ken Jones. "Chris represents an exceptional mix of proven athletic success, development acumen and authentic commitment to our mission."
Young, reflecting on his return to his alma mater, emphasized the personal significance of the opportunity. "Oklahoma Christian University was transformative for my life. It shaped my faith foundation and provided the intellectual and spiritual framework that has guided my career," Young said. "To return in this capacity is very meaningful. I am committed to advancing OC's mission through strategic growth in both philanthropy and athletics and supporting our students and the university’s future for generations to come."
