OC signee Todd wins prestigious junior tournament in Manitoba
ST. ANDREWS, Manitoba (June 17, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian women’s golf signee Dana Todd has won a prestigious junior tournament in her native country of Canada to qualify for one of the world’s top junior events.
Todd, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, won the girls 15-18 age-group title in the Manitoba Optimist Junior Open, which ended Sunday at Larters at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club. Todd shot rounds of 82 and 73 on the par-70, 5,081-yard course to finish at 155, good for a one-stroke win.
Todd finished second in the tournament last year.
With the win, Todd qualified for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship, set for July 30-Aug. 4 at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Participants in the Optimist International event through the years have included LPGA Tour players Nancy Lopez, Heather Farr, Michelle McGann and Stacy Prammanasudh and PGA Tour players including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, John Daly, Ernie Els, Nick Price, Davis Love III, Justin Leonard, Corey Pavin, Rick Fehr and Craig Stadler.
