Oklahoma Christian University Saves More Than $800,000 in Energy Costs, Earns National Recognition

Oklahoma Christian University (OC) has been recognized by Cenergistic, a national energy conservation company that has partnered with more than 1,500 educational, healthcare and faith-based organizations since 1986. OC received Cenergistic’s "Best in Class" award, honoring the university’s outstanding commitment to energy conservation and responsible campus stewardship.

Since partnering with Cenergistic in 2023, OC has saved more than $800,000 in utility costs, reducing overall energy consumption by 18 percent and decreasing energy used per square foot by 15.6 percent across campus facilities. Those savings are a direct result of intentional operations across the Oklahoma City metro campus.

For students and families, that matters since a well-managed campus is a better-maintained campus and one where facilities, housing and learning environments are cared for with the same intentionality OC brings to its academic mission.

"This recognition reflects the commitment of our campus community to responsible stewardship, sustainability and operational excellence," said John Hermes, senior vice president for administration. "The savings generated through this initiative allow us to reinvest resources into the university's mission while reducing our environmental impact."

Cenergistic’s recognition combines energy monitoring, building audits, operational best practices and campus-wide stewardship efforts designed to keep OC's campus running efficiently without compromising the quality of life on campus.
