OKLAHOMA CITY (May 10, 2013) – Katy O’Steen, who just completed an honor-filled career with Oklahoma Christian’s women’s basketball team, will serve as a student assistant coach for the Lady Eagles during the 2013-14 season, OC head coach Stephanie Findley said Friday.
O’Steen, from Durant, led OC to the National Christian College Athletic Association Central Region championship and a fourth-place finish at the NCCAA Championship this past March. She was named as the NCCAA Central Region player of the year after averaging 15.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the Lady Eagles, who went 20-13.
O’Steen also was named to the first-team All-Heartland Conference honor list. She finished her career as the 11th-leading scorer in the program’s history with 1,426 points.
“After a successful playing career, Katy will be transitioning into a coaching role,” Findley said. “She will assist in all aspects of the program, from on-court coaching to social media, video editing, scouting and fund raising. We are excited to have her as a member of our staff for the coming season.”
