The highly competitive Creative Quarterly is an international art and design competition focused on promoting the best work in graphic design, illustration, photography and fine art open to students and professionals.
Creative Quarterly issue 61 has students represented from schools like the Maryland Institute College of Art, Lebanese American University, University of California Los Angeles, School of Visual Arts, University of Ljubljana and Fachhochschule Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
In the category of Photography, only four students were winners and one of them was LIZLEY AVILA, a junior Graphic Design student from Edmond, Oklahoma. She received a winning award for two photographs and was a finalist for a third.
In the category of Graphic Design, only six students were winners. One of them was MARCUS LEONARD and another was JACEY McDANIELS. Marcus and Jacey are both senior Graphic Design majors from Edmond, Oklahoma.
Professor Michael O'Keefe is Director of Graphic Design at Oklahoma Christian University. Students benefit from Professor O'Keefe's deep industry experience, and agencies across the country utilize him as a talent resource when they have graphic design positions to fill. He has worked for five advertising agencies, either as a Senior Art Director or Creative Director, and now services his own accounts. Recognized with more than 100 local, regional and national awards for creativity, O'Keefe knows exactly how to prepare students for a successful creative career.
He is past president of the Graphic Communication Society of Oklahoma City and has sat on the committee for student scholarships for the Oklahoma City Advertising Club. O’Keefe’s work has been published in Print’s Best Logos & Symbols, American Corporate Identity, and more. He hails from St. Louis, home of the St. Louis Cardinals.
