FISHKILL, N.Y. (June 21, 2013) – Former Oklahoma Christian pitcher Cale Coshow made his professional baseball debut on Friday night, pitching two innings in relief for the Staten Island Yankees.

Coshow, who was selected by the New York Yankees in the 13th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft earlier this month, entered the New York-Penn League game against the Hudson Valley Renegades to start the third inning.

In his two innings, Coshow faced 10 batters, allowing four hits, two runs (both earned) and recording one strikeout. Hudson Valley, the short-season Class A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, eventually won the game 5-3.

Hudson Valley scored both its runs off Coshow in the third. Darryl George and Julian Ridings singled and moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Patrick Blair. An Ariel Soriano single scored George and a Johnny Field RBI groundout scored Ridings.

Coshow, from Edmond, went 3-5 with a 4.56 ERA this spring as a sophomore for OC. In 13 appearances (all starts) he pitched 73 innings, with 69 strikeouts and 28 walks. He threw two complete games.
