Laura Rucker Coale has been part of the adjunct vocal faculty at Oklahoma Christian University since 1992. She earned a B.A. in Theater from OC and a Bachelors and Masters in Vocal Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma. In addition to voice, Laura has taught Vocal Pedagogy, French and German Diction, performance workshops and directed the annual spring operas. She also maintains a small private studio.
Laura has performed roles in 40+ productions; plays, musicals, operas and operettas. Her favorite roles include Madama Butterfly (Cio Cio San), La Boheme (Mimi), The Magic Flute (Pamina), The Marriage of Figaro (Countess), Dialogue of the Carmelites (Blanche), Amahl and the Night Visitors (Mother), The New Moon (Marianne), Oklahoma! (Laurie), and The Sound of Music (Maria). She also premiered the role of Alida Slade in the Oklahoma debut of the opera Roman Fever under the supervision of the composer Robert Ward, best known for his opera, The Crucible.
She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and a lifetime member of Alpha Psi Drama Fraternity and of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity. Laura studied voice with W. Stephen Smith and Pamela Green and had the privilege of working as assistant directors for Broadway directors, the late Tamara Long and the late Carveth Osterhaus.
