GRADUATION is Friday May 7

May 7, 2021, your Eagle is graduating! This highly anticipated day is a mixture of joyful celebration, acknowledgement of a wonderful accomplishment, the closing of a chapter of life and the beginning of the next. We have loved every minute with your student, and we have big dreams for their future.

You have supported, encouraged, prayed and believed for this moment.

Here's what you need to know about graduation:

To provide a meaningful, safe experience for graduates, families and friends we will host the Spring 2021 graduating class in an outdoor and distanced environment with all wearing masks.

Tickets

The outdoor event allows graduates to invite an unlimited number of family and friends. If graduation is moved indoors due to weather, each graduate will receive four tickets. Anyone needing less than four tickets can share with others who may need more. Tickets are distributed:

  • to undergraduate students at Senior Salute
  • to graduate students through each program's office
  • or, through the Welcome Center

In November, OC hosted its first outdoor graduation ceremony in more than 50 years. It was a wonderful day. Pray that we will have beautiful weather May 7!

Seating, Escorts, Masks and Livestreaming

  • Guest seating will be socially distanced. (If you prefer to bring a lawn chair to spread out in the grassy area surrounding the lot, please do so!)
  • When seated, graduates will be socially distanced.
  • Unfortunately, COVID distancing restrictions mean we cannot continue our tradition of undergraduate students selecting a personal escort. All guests go directly to guest seating.
  • Graduates will go to the Garvey Center to line up.
  • Masks are required for graduates and guests while on campus, both indoors and outdoors, including before, during and after the ceremonies.
  • Both events will still be streamed live at oc.edu/live. Share the link with family and friends who cannot be here in person.
Make plans now to come celebrate your graduate!

Weather Contingency

If there is inclement weather, both ceremonies will be held in the Payne Athletic Center where each graduate can have four guests. There will be healthy distancing and masks are required.

You will only need tickets to graduation if it becomes an indoor event.

See you soon!

There are so many reasons to be proud!
