Matching Funds Offered for #GivingTuesdayNow

#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

To protect all OC students and employees in the early stages of the current pandemic, the university sent students home at Spring Break to complete their school year in an online format. We refunded each their room charge and unused meals. We're confident this was the good and right thing to do. But, it has left us short of our budget goals.

Like many individuals and industries, it's a challenging season for higher education. All OC students have been disrupted by the necessary response to COVID-19. But the coronavirus will not stop our commitment to a transformative learning experience. On this special giving day, friends and alumni of OC will have the opportunity to support the university and our students in their time of need.

Funds given on May 5 will be matched, up to $50,000 by friends of OC.

Your donation will have double the impact! These funds will be used to fill the financial gap experienced by OC, cover student emergency needs, provide scholarships to our students (some of whom have additional financial needs this year), and more.

Plan to give and have it doubled on Tuesday, May 5, for #GivingTuesdayNow!

This new day is organized by GivingTuesday, and is being held in addition to the annually scheduled GivingTuesday event that will still take place on December 1, 2020. In partnership with GivingTuesday’s global network of leaders, partners, communities and generous individuals, this event is set to spark an increase in grassroots generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.
