Christelle Kwizera ('15) was recognized by the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II, with the Queen's Points of Light Award on June 21, 2022. She was presented this award for having founded Water Access Rwanda, which scales up water access to vulnerable communities in Rwanda. This award is a global prize that identifies leaders in the Commonwealth who are aiding in impactful social activities for their communities. Kwizera was presented the award by Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, the UK Minister of State for Commonwealth. Water Access Rwanda, with a network of 96 boreholes and purified clean water grids, provides clean water to more than 100,000 Rwandans every day, while at the same time providing employment opportunities for young people.
