OC welcomes high school students to Spring Visit 2018!

Mar 02, 2018

Each spring, hundreds of high school juniors and seniors from around the world travel to visit Oklahoma Christian University for the annual Spring Visit, highlighting everything OC has offer future students. The event, featuring OC’s annual Spring Sing and a Merit Scholarship Celebration, introduces prospective students to the spiritual, academic and social community on campus.

Spring Visit allows high school students to explore campus firsthand with guided tours and informational meetings. It begins on Thursday night, honoring academic achievements with a Merit Scholarship Celebration. Students may stay overnight on campus, getting to interact with OC students in the dorms. On Friday, students receive guided tours around campus, meetings with academic departments and worship during chapel.

Jennifer Weiss, co-director of admissions, loves welcoming students to Spring Visit each year.

“With over 500 individuals attending, we have so much to show prospective students,” she said. “Spring Visit gives high school students a glimpse of the energy and community around campus.”

Spring Visit is centered on OC’s biggest tradition: Spring Sing. The annual event features the campus’ social clubs and freshman class performing themed musical numbers, with hosts singing award-winning hits backed by a live band.

Amanda Watson, OC’s student events coordinator and Spring Sing staff advisor, recognizes the impact that the event has on students.

“A big part of Spring Sing is that it brings so many people together to perform and compete in a fun and creative environment,” said Watson. “For high school students watching, they can’t help but want to be a part of the fun.”

Spring Visit runs March 1-3, and Spring Sing runs March 2 at 8 p.m. and Mar. 3 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Purchase tickets online or at the Hardeman Auditorium Box Office in the Garvey Center.
