Oklahoma Christian's bands have traveled from coast to coast, and from Mexico to Canada. We've performed on the steps of City Hall in New York City and the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., at California's Disneyland and Florida's Walt Disney World. Our members have dipped their toes in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, as well as the Gulf of Mexico. They've witnessed the majesty of Niagara Falls, surveyed the Chicago skyline from atop the Willis Tower, skied the Rocky Mountains, seen an eruption of Yellowstone's "Old Faithful" and cheered on baseball's Braves in Atlanta and the White Sox in Chicago. We played "Hail to the Chief" for president George H. W. Bush, and have performed "Hail to Oklahoma Christian" for countless OC commencement exercises. Sure, we're about making great music, but we're also about making great memories. Join the Oklahoma Christian bands for a chance to develop your musical talents while you build relationships and share spectacular experiences.
Many of our members are music majors, but students from all academic disciplines are invited to participate in the ensembles described below. Private instruction on all instruments, and opportunities for small ensemble performance in combos and other chamber groups, are also available. Many students receive financial aid for their participation in the bands. For scholarship information, click here.

Membership in the Jazz Ensemble is determined by audition, and all students with high school music experience are encouraged to try out. Members of the Jazz Ensemble are also expected to participate in the Symphonic Band. Under the direction of Dr. Heath Jones, Professor of Music and past-president of the Oklahoma Jazz Educators (associated with the Jazz Educators Network), the group maintains an active performance schedule throughout the year, and joins with the Symphonic Band on tours. The OC Jazz Ensemble has received superior ratings at the Temple, Red Bud, Wichita, Clark Terry, and JENerations Jazz Festivals. The ensemble has performed as an Honor Group at the Oklahoma Music Educators Convention and has performed frequently at the Oklahoma Jazz Educators Workshop. Other performances include: Carnival Cruise line ship "Fantasy;" Royal Caribbean's ships "Navigator of the Seas" and "Splendour of the Seas;" the "Legends in Concert" show at Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theatre in Branson, Missouri; and Silver Dollar City. Check out some sample recordings below.

Oklahoma Christian has no marching band (no football team!), but does field a highly respected basketball band: the Sweat Band under the direction of Dr. Heath Jones. Group membership is typically drawn from within the Jazz Ensemble, and members are paid for their participation. Come be a professional musician in the Sweat Band, getting paid to perform, paint your face, and yell at basketball games!
