OPT-Eligible Programs with STEM Extension
All F-1 international students are initially eligible for 12 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT) upon completing their degree program. Students who graduate from a STEM-designated program, such as the MSCS, MSE or MSPM, may also apply for a 24-month STEM OPT extension. This means eligible students could qualify for up to 36 months (3 years) of practical training in the U.S. after graduation.

Financial documents – Your financial documents must show you can afford to attend graduate school in the U.S. This may include bank statements, affidavits of support or scholarship award letters.

Tuition rates vary slightly by program. An additional $25 per credit hour international student fee applies to each.
MSE and MSCS: $605 per credit hour.
MSPM: $605 per credit hour.
MBA: $595 per credit hour.

No, but we are more affordable than most universities. The cost of living in the Oklahoma City area is also very reasonable. Students have access to on-campus employment and Curricular Practical Training (CPT). Students in a master’s program are eligible for Day 1 CPT.

Yes, there is a $25 application fee. We’ve kept it low to make taking the next step toward your graduate goals as accessible and affordable as possible.

We accept transcripts in English without a certified evaluation from countries or universities with which OC has an established relationship.
You can request a waiver for the transcript evaluation by contacting your admissions counselor or emailing Graduate Admissions at graduate.admissions@oc.edu.
If a transcript evaluation is required, we accept evaluations from members of either NACES or AICE, with a preference for World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).

No, the GRE may not be required. OC is happy to waive the GRE requirement based on academic performance or professional experience.
For MSE and MSCS applicants:
An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher,
OR five or more years of documented work experience in a related field,
OR completion of at least nine graduate credit hours with a grade of B or better from a regionally accredited university.
For MBA and MSPM applicants:
An undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher,
OR a 3.0 GPA WITH at least five years of verifiable work experience,
OR completion of at least nine graduate credit hours with a grade of B or better from a regionally accredited university.

Yes, all international applicants must provide proof of English proficiency. Minimum score requirements vary by program:
For MSE and MSCS applicants:
1. TOEFL: 61 IBT or higher
2. IELTS: 6.0 or higher
3. PTE: 50 or higher
4. Duolingo: 105 or higher
For MBA and MSPM applicants:
1. TOEFL: 79 IBT or higher
2. IELTS: 6.5 or higher
3. PTE: 58 or higher
4. Duolingo: 120 or higher

Application processing usually takes one to two weeks after submission of all required documents. Be sure to upload all requested materials.

You may transfer up to nine credit hours (typically three courses) into the MSCS or MSE programs. For the MBA and MSPM programs, up to six credit hours may be transferred.
All transfer courses must have a grade of B- or better and will be evaluated to ensure they align with your chosen degree requirements.

Once you turn in all required documentation and are sent an acceptance letter, the International Records Office will send your I-20.

After you are admitted to a U.S. university, you will receive an I-20 form, which is required to apply for an F-1 student visa. The visa application process involves the following steps:
Pay the SEVIS fee.
Complete the DS-160 form.
Schedule a visa interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country.
Attend your interview and bring the necessary documents, including your passport, I-20 form, visa fee payment receipt and proof of financial support.

Only one online course (3 credit hours) counts towards your full-time enrollment of three courses (9 credit hours) per semester. You must maintain a physical presence on campus during all active semesters, so each fall and spring.

Yes, eligible students may begin Curricular Practical Training (CPT) from the first day of their program by completing the following steps:
Present a valid offer of employment from a job that falls within your program of study.
Enroll in the appropriate practicum course.
Obtain an updated I-20 with CPT authorization from the International Records office.

OC may have openings in Support Central, in physical plant services, in our student services (dining, bookstore, mailroom) and occasionally Graduate Assistant positions. These jobs go quickly, so you’ll want to apply early!

F-1 visa holders must follow specific work guidelines. Always gain work authorization before beginning to work. You may not work off-campus outside of CPT as an active student. This is a SEVIS termination offense.
On-Campus Employment - You are eligible for up to 20 hours per week during the academic semester and up to 40 hours per week during breaks.
CPT - Graduate students may work up to 40 hours per week after receiving CPT authorization. Check with International Records for all CPT guidelines.
OPT - After completing your degree, you will be eligible for up to one year of Optional Practical Training (OPT).
STEM OPT Extension - Graduates of the MSCS, MSE and MSPM who are on OPT will also be eligible for an additional 24 months of the STEM OPT extension.
