Oklahoma City Family Literacy (formerly Even Start Family Literacy) is an adult education program that provides educational services to mothers who have not completed high school and adult GED classes for other learners.  It is partially funded by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and  Oklahoma City Pubic Schools Adult Education department. The program provides early childhood education; services with childcare downstairs while mothers  and other adult learners attend classes  upstairs.

The learners have goals to learn English, improve job skills and/ or earn GED degrees.  The program is a 3 hour program, Monday-Friday, from 8:30-11:30am.   English learners are assigned to 1 of our  2 classes depending on their level of English proficiency. There is also one GED class for adult learners to work on GED skills and test prep.

The students  have lessons in the basic areas of language, math, science and  social studies. A component of the program  requires volunteer tutors to work with individual or small groups of students to assist them in mastering skills.  Materials and instructions are provided for tutors, along with online training.  The training is a  one time,45 to 90 minute session depending on the tutors preferences.
