The Patrick Astafan Memorial Scholarship Endowment honors an outstanding young man who died of leukemia in April 1994. Patrick Astafan was the 20-year-old son of Peter and Alice Astafan of Sacramento, California. Patrick was active in the Cordova Church of Christ. He was beloved by Cordova’s children for the character “Billy Bible” that he created to teach and entertain children at camps and other activities.
This award began at Cascade College, a branch campus of Oklahoma Christian University and is now available each year at OC to one or more students from the Cordova Church of Christ and Sacramento area.
Patrick Astafan invested himself in the lives of others through his service at the Cordova Church of Christ. This award, named and established in his honor, continues this legacy of changing lives. The Patrick Astafan Memorial Scholarship Endowment has impacted lives by making high-quality Christian education possible for many young people who could not have afforded it otherwise.
