Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF)

OC received two allocations totaling $1,619,172. Amounts were determined based on each student's HEERF grant application & demonstrated financial need. A third allocation of $2.1 million has since been received & is currently being awarded to all eligible students.

  • $3.7M More than $3.7M in total funding was received from HEERF I, HEERF II, and HEERF III: $3,725,652.
  • 1415 1221 Student Applications Were Received for HEERF I and HEERF II. 324 Additional Applications Have Been Received for HEERF III.
  • 1260 1152 Were Approved for HEERF I and HEERF II. 260 Additional Applications Have Been Approved for HEERF III.
  • $2.4M More Than $1.6M in Total Funding Was Disbursed To Students for HEERF I and HEERF II. $1.57M of HEERF III Has Been Disbursed To Students. Over $500K of HEERF III Remains Available As of September 13th.

The selection process

Students complete an application for the HEERF Grant, providing any documentation available that illustrates need. The Financial Aid Office reviews their federal aid eligibility based on stated need. For HEERF II & HEERF III, student recipients can choose to apply the grant as a payment to their student account. All HEERF grants not applied to student accounts are paid directly to students via check or direct deposit. OC has approximately 2,200 students eligible for application.


As of August 24, 2021, 1022 students received grants from HEERF I, HEERF II, and/or HEERF III. HEERF I & II funded $1,619,172 to OC students. An additional $2,106,480 has been received for HEERF III. Through September 13th, $1.57M of this amount has been awarded. Over $500K remains available for additional student applicants. Students who demonstrate financial impact related to the coronavirus are encouraged to apply.
