Dr. Nathan Mellor

Dr. Nathan B. Mellor is the Vice President for University Outreach/Chief of Staff for Oklahoma Christian University. Prior to full time administrative work, Dr. Mellor was a faculty member in OC's School of Business Administration where he taught courses in leadership, ethics and law.

Mellor holds the Bachelor of Arts in Bible and the Master of Science in Education degrees from Harding University, the Master of Dispute Resolution degree from Pepperdine University School of Law and the Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University. He has completed continuing education courses through the Harvard School of Law Program on Negotiation and was named a Summer Fellow at Vanderbilt University's Peabody Professional Institute for Higher Education Management in 2008.

Since joining the OC Community in 2006, Dr. Mellor has initiated numerous programs that have been highlighted on FOX Radio, FOX News, CNN Inside Africa and newspapers, magazines and websites throughout the world. Among the most notable efforts are: iDebate - Developing Leaders With General Tommy Franks and the Peace Through Business Rwanda program. iDebate is a collaborative effort between OC, the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) to provide leadership training for America's most talented young leaders. Peace Through Business Rwanda is a partnership with the Institute for the Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) to provide a four-week intensive educational experience for 15 women business leaders from Rwanda.

Prior to joining the faculty of OC, Dr. Mellor was the Assistant Director of the prestigious Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law. U.S. News and World Report currently ranks the Straus Institute as the number one Dispute Resolution program in America.

While a student at Harding University, Nathan was named among the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, played intercollegiate football and was voted Student Body President. Upon graduation he was selected as the Graduate Assistant to the President of the University and was later to help establish the Institute for Church and Family.

Dr. Mellor has a passion for ministry and served as the Pulpit Minister for the Clear Creek Church of Christ in Chattanooga for five years. He currently attends the Memorial Road Church of Christ where he regularly teaches in the Adult Education program. Mellor is a trained church health consultant and works with church leaders on a regular basis to strengthen church families.

As a student at Pepperdine University, Mellor was selected as a Fellow at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and was named a Colleague by the Graduate School of Education and Psychology. While living in California, Mellor worked with two consulting firms: C. Richard Barnes and Associates, LLC and Strategic Resolutions Group, LLC. Through these firms he has conducted training programs in Group Dynamics, Strategic Negotiation Skills and Workplace Conflict.

Dr. Mellor has consulted, trained and lectured throughout America and abroad. In pursuit of educational, humanitarian and religious interests he studied/taught in: Australia (1997); Belize (1996); England (1993); Guyana (1988, 1990, 1998-2000); Israel (1995); Mexico (2004); Russia (1992 –1995) and Rwanda (2008).

Nathan and his wife Christie were married on May 17, 1997 and have two daughters, Annalise (b. 2000) and Arden (b. 2003). His parents, David and Susan Mellor reside in Chattanooga, Tennessee where David is a minister for the East Brainerd church of Christ. His older brother, Matthew, is an elementary school principal in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Phillip Lewis Dr. Phillip Lewis, Dean of the College of Professional Studies, studies, teaches and writes about ethics and leadership. He wrote the book Transformational Leadership. He works at OC "to make a difference in the lives of undergraduate and graduate students" and "to impact the business programs for the future."
