1955
Leonard (55) and Joan (Miller 55) Black were married August 14, 1955, after meeting at Central Christian College. Their children hosted a 60th anniversary celebration at Peck Church of Christ in Peck, KS, on August 15, 2015.

John and Janis (Young) Barnhill

1961
John and Janis (Young 61) Barnhill celebrated their 50th anniversary on December 18, 2015. They were married in 1965 by Dr. James O. Baird in Oklahoma City. They have three children and eight grandchildren. They have lived in Gatesville, Texas, for the past 43 years, where John is an elder at Gatesville Church of Christ and Janis teaches in prison ministry.

Perry Dalby (66) recently retired as director and general manager from Eastern Solutions Group, Kuwait; prior retirement as Commander 75th Division, U.S. Army with the rank of Major General, U.S. Army. He and is wife, Barbara, currently live in Belton, Texas.

  • Dr. Edwin Harless
Dr. Edwin Harless

Dr. Edwin Harless (66) was recently elected to a second three-year term as a director of the Board of Governors of the American Board of Audiology. He was chief of the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC, for 22 years. He currently serves as an audiologist at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Winston-Salem. He is a retired Lt. Colonel (audiologist), North Carolina Army National Guard, and he served previously on the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Dr. Harless earned his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. He and his wife Vivian reside in Clemmons, NC. They have three sons.

1972
Bruce Shuey (72) retired from “flying the line” due to FAA age restrictions after 20,000 commercial passenger flight hours. His wife, Diane, is a Delta Airlines flight attendant with more than 30 years of flight time. Bruce was one of the first to graduate from OCC’s 1971 Private Pilot class. Interesting fact: Bruce’s first landing, as a private pilot, was on OCC’s grass strip.

Larry (77) and Rhea (Holmgren 77) Buckingham announce the birth of their fifth grandchild, Charisma Jade Buckingham, on March 20, 2015, to son Tyler and his wife Kristie. They have two sons, Brodie and Austin. Their daughter, Melanie Shandruk, also has two sons: Riley and Carter.

  • David Brewer
David Brewer

1978
On May 1, 2016, David (78) Brewer retired from the Oklahoma City Police Department as a captain with more than 35 years of service. Four children went to OC: Ryan Brewer (01), Luke Brewer (02), Elizabeth (Brewer 03) Mullins, and Jake Brewer (08), plus David’s sister, Zina (Brewer 87) Siemer.

Kyle and Karla (Matlack 93) Rotenberry along with big brother Paul, 10, and big sister Luci, 7, announce the birth of Madeleine Mahallie on February 23, 2015.

In October 2015, Kelly Westbrook (96) completed his Master of Science in Aeronautics with a focus on Aviation/Aerospace Education Technology at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide.

Josh (97, MBA 11) Fowler has accepted a job at Goodwood Blvd. Church of Christ in Baton Rouge, LA, as the pulpit minister. His wife is Heather (Kopf 99) Fowler, along with children Dustin, Jodee, and Dylan.

Ryken Gunter

1999
Ryken Gunter was born January 7, 2014. He joined big sister Jayna, 11, and Kyler, 8. Parents are Wes (98) and Alicia (Andrews 99) Gunter. Wes is a veterinarian and Alicia is a high school physical education teacher and cross country and track coach.

Brad Leonard (99) was recently voted as Chief Financial Officer of the Logistics Officer Association, a non-profit dedicated to enhancing military and civilian acquisition, technology, and logistics (AT&L) professions. Brad is the product support manager for the Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Division at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado.

Scott (98) and Teresa (Judd 00) DeBoard announce the birth of their first son, Sam Charles, on November 19, 2014.

James Walton (01) started a new job as a senior systems engineer at The Walt Disney Company supporting ESPN.com.

Steven (02) and Carrie (Chilcoat 02) Gould celebrate the birth of their son, Benjamin Jay Gould, on September 11, 2014. He joins big sister Caroline.

Trevor and Jennifer (Reagan 04) McIntyre welcomed their fourth daughter, Teagan Danger McIntyre, on February 11, 2015. Jennifer also was promoted in her job with Southwest Airlines.

Colby (09) and Jennifer (Rampton 11) Simonds announce the birth of their son Nolan Simonds, on January 27, 2016.

Condolences

Terry Morgan (72) passed from this life on February 26 after a 10-year battle with primary progressive aphasia. He worked as a teacher and then a principal in Cushing, OK. He leaves behind his wife Joy (72), three children, and 13 grandkids.
