Assistant/Associate Professor of English

The department of Language and Literature at Oklahoma Christian invites applications for the faculty position of Assistant/Associate Professor of English with an emphasis in Composition/Rhetoric, to be filled by Fall 2008. Candidates with Ph.D. in hand are preferred, but qualified ABD candidates will also be considered. Teaching duties of the faculty position include an initial 3/3 load of 2 General Education Courses, 2 upper level writing courses including technical writing and 1 advanced writing course to be developed by the candidate.  Other duties will include overseeing the General Education composition program and developing the writing major as Coordinator of Composition/Rhetoric.

In addition, the faculty member would work with existing faculty on advancing the campus literacy program, developing the writing major through new practicum, and serving in the usual academic roles of advising students and serving on faculty committees.  As a department committed to the integration of faith and learning, Language and Literature is a dynamic community that serves over 100 majors and boasts a variety of academic successes, including an active Honors Society chapter, an annual faith-based speaker series, a strong student/faculty connection, and successful placement of graduates. We seek an engaged candidate prepared to join such an energetic faculty and student body.
