About OC's Career Services Director

Sara Barnett Sara Barnett joined Oklahoma Christian University as the new Coordinator of Career Services in the summer of 2005 and sees her job as "tremendously rewarding."

Sara, who was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, came to Edmond to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Advertising from the University of Central Oklahoma.  After graduation, Sara worked for two of Oklahoma's top advertising firms, a national promotions company and taught business courses at three Universities.

Sara received her Master's in Business Administration from Oklahoma Christian University in 2003. “I returned to the place I am comfortable, I love it here,” said Sara.  Her favorite thing about returning to OC is the “sense of family, faith and community.”

Outside of Oklahoma Christian University, Sara’s life is just as busy.  She is married to an Oklahoma City fireman and has an eight year old daughter, a two year old son and recently welcomed a new daughter into the family in August 2007.  She and her family attend the Wilshire Church of Christ.

“Statistically, career centers have become more and more important to students in recent years,” says Sara.  “Now we need additional resources to strengthen our already strong department, and to increase student awareness.”

OC’s Career Services Center is planning so many new and exciting things for the future.  Sara admits, “it is going to be a challenge to build this department to where it needs to be, but I am positive that with the help of the University and the students, we will be a well-known Career Development Center in the very near future.”
