Welcome From the President

Mike E. O'Neal

Dear Friends of OC:

Welcome to the Quest Lectureship website for 2010. Our Director of Church Relations, Dr. Nathan Mellor and the church relations team are putting together a 'not-to-be-missed' program. I am excited about the theme of Unity this year and am looking forward to the uplifting lessons that will be presented on this important topic. Great things are happening in congregations throughout the world that are modeling the unity described in Scripture and it is good to hear some positive news from time to time. If you are looking to be inspired by what God is doing through his people, you have come to the right place.

As you know, the fellowship of the churches of Christ has its roots in seeking unity among believers by nurturing the highest regard for Scripture and promoting autonomy among our congregations. From my perspective, this desire for unity is one of the most compelling features of the Restoration Movement. Through Quest, we want to take the time to celebrate the essence of who we are as a people of God, committing ourselves to a common standard of authority, submitting to one another in love, and rejoicing in our common adoption by our Creator and God.

Therefore, Quest 2010 will be seeking to celebrate the unity we have in Jesus Christ and in our commitment to the teachings of scripture and in the fellowship of the Spirit. I am looking forward to our evening keynote addresses from OC's recently named Dean of Biblical Studies, Dr. Alan Martin and the Dean of the College of Bible at Harding University, Dr. Monte Cox. In addition, I am anticipating great things from OC graduate Rusty Tugman and Seth McDowell who will be our keynote during the day.

Oklahoma Christian is redoubling its efforts to connect with and serve the churches of Christ. We love and need our fellowship and we want the churches to be blessed by the many services we offer directly to the congregations, as well as the indirect but central service of educating young people to know and to love Christ as they prepare for leadership and service in the kingdom. As those strategies unfold, I am confident you will want to stay connected and take advantage of opportunities to strengthen your own faith and your ministries.

Please join us October 3-5 for a time of refreshing, a time of learning, a time of rejoicing, and a time of fellowship in the spirit of unity among believers in Christ Jesus and His Father.
