Dr. Caren Feuerhelm was once mistaken for the writer of The Cat in the Hat. She says, "As I was observing a student interacting with young children, one of the five-year-old girls asked me if I was Dr. Seuss." She may not be Dr. Seuss, but Feuerhelm has been published. She wrote "Lifeworld of a Primary Teacher" for the January 2007 issue of the NAECTE Journal. She has had several professional memberships including: the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Southern Early Childhood Association, and the National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators. She is also in the Oklahoma Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators, and the Association for Childhood Education International, and she was on the governing board as the Newsletter Chairmen for the Early Childhood Association of Oklahoma. Dr. Feuerhelm is in the Who's Who Among University and College Teachers, and received the Faculty Technology Achievement Award in 2007. At OC she helps out by sponsoring the social service club Lambda Chi Zeta. She also tutors students at Western Village Academy in reading and math. She says that she works at OC because of the students. She says, "The students in my field are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of young children. We share a common goal." Dr. Feuerhelm has two children: Chad and Cori Bryant, and is married to Dr. Len Feuerhelm.
