OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 27, 2012) – Oklahoma Christian closed what has been a rough season with a pleasant memory on Saturday afternoon.
On Senior Day for women’s soccer, senior Callie White had a goal and an assist in the first five minutes and the Lady Eagles led almost all the way while beating Heartland Conference rival McMurry (Texas) 2-1.
White scored an unassisted goal in the fourth minute for OC (3-13) and assisted on a goal by Mackenzii Bieke in the fifth minute. White finished the season with a team-high four goals.
“It was a great job by our team today,” OC coach Randall Robison said. “We started with a high level of intensity and dominated play early, which led to the two goals. Our backs played very solid today. We had more creativity in the final third of the field since the first couple of games of the year.
“It was a good measuring stick for us, as McMurry is in a very similar spot – new to NCAA Division II, with young players and trying to develop a higher level for the program. I was very proud of our girls for finishing a season in this manner.”
McMurry (4-12-1) pulled within 2-1 in the 16th minute, as Addison Tate assisted on a goal by Kristen Grant, but the War Hawks never scored an equalizer in an evenly matched game during which each team took 13 shots.
OC goalkeeper Lindsey Williams made eight saves while McMurry goalkeeper Shelby Sova had seven saves.
