SHAWNEE, Okla. (Oct. 6, 2012) – Nick Stoots finished 21st to lead a smaller-than-usual Oklahoma Christian men’s cross country contingent in the Bison Invitational on a chilly Saturday morning.
OC coach Wade Miller opted to rest some of his top runners, presenting an opportunity for other runners to shine for the Eagles. Stoots stepped up and did that, finishing the eight-kilometer course in 26:20, exactly two minutes behind the winner, Adam Godwin of Oklahoma Baptist.
Stoots joined three other OC runners in the 109-man field. Trent Stephens was 36th in 26:50, Joseph Zarazua was 47th in 27:16 and Riley Compton was 89th in 31:00.
With only four runners, OC did not post a team score in the race hosted by Oklahoma Baptist.
The Eagles’ next race will be next Saturday at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
