FLETCHER, Okla. (May 22, 2014) – Emily Harris, a standout runner at the small-school prep level in southwest Oklahoma, has signed a letter of intent to run cross country at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Wade Miller said Thursday.
Harris ran as a senior at Fletcher High School, finishing fifth in the Class 2A state cross country race. In the Class A state track and field meet, she finished second in the 800 meters and 3,200 meters and seventh in the 1,600 meters.
Her personal-best times are 2:28 in the 800, 5:40 in the 1,600 and 12:14 in the 3,200.
As a sophomore at Cache High School, she finished eighth in the Class 4A state cross country race and as a freshman at Newcastle High School, she was fifth in the 1,600 meters at the state Class 4A track meet.
“Emily will give us more depth on the cross country course and I expect her to be a contributor as a freshman,” Miller said. “I’m excited to have her running for us next year!”
