OKLAHOMA CITY (April 1, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian catcher Kala Ratliff and pitcher Taylor Mosher were named Monday as the Heartland Conference’s softball hitter and pitcher of the week, respectively.
Both were honored for their performances during last Tuesday’s doubleheader split with Southern Nazarene, the only games played last week by the Lady Eagles.
Ratliff, a junior from Yukon, went 3-for-5 and walked once in the two games. She went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs in the second game, a 9-1 win. In the opener, a 12-4 loss, she doubled and threw out an SNU runner trying to steal.
She is the second OC player to win the conference’s weekly hitting award this season, joining Kendra Pierce.
Mosher, a sophomore from Flower Mound, Texas, tossed a complete game, her team-leading fifth of the season, in OC’s win in the second game against SNU. She scattered five hits and struck out one, allowing only one earned run.
It’s the second time this season Mosher (5-3, 3.22 ERA) has received the conference’s pitcher-of-the-week honor.
