Pulido wins Heartland player of the week award for 2nd time
OKLAHOMA CITY (March 4, 2013) – For the second time this spring, Oklahoma Christian’s Julio Pulido has been named as the Heartland Conference men’s tennis player of the week.
The sophomore from Caceras, Spain, provided two key team points as No. 10 Oklahoma Christian won 5-4 at No. 31 Midwestern State on Saturday in the Eagles' first match since debuting in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NCAA Division II rankings.
In doubles, he teamed with Nicolas Auruccio to beat Midwestern State's Kyle Davidson and Franko Siljeg 8-5. Pulido then provided a decisive point in singles play by defeating Austin Crawford 6-3, 6-4.
Pulido is 6-1 in both singles and doubles this season against a brutal schedule, as five of OC's first seven opponents have been ranked. OC is 6-1 overall.
Pulido, who also won the Heartland award two weeks ago, is OC’s first two-time winner of the honor. Martin Poboril has taken the honor once, in early February.
