OKLAHOMA CITY (July 31, 2013) – Matt Brown, who’s pitched the past two baseball seasons for NCAA Division I Arkansas-Little Rock, has transferred to Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Lonny Cobble said Wednesday.
Brown, a 6-foot-3 right-hander, has four pitches – a fastball, curve, split-fingered fastball and changeup. He starred at Stillwater High School before signing with UALR.
As a freshman at UALR, he made five relief appearances totaling five innings and posted a 10.80 ERA, and in five relief appearances last season, he went 0-1 with a 1.50 ERA in six innings of work. He pitched a season-high three innings against Louisiana-Lafayette, allowing no runs or hits.
“Matt will be a great addition to our pitching staff,” Cobble said. “He will add experience to a staff that had two guys drafted this year. He is very mature and goal-oriented and I think he’ll fit in well.”
Brown has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
