OC stages "The Tragedy of Tragedies, or the Life and Death of Tom Thumb the Great"

imageOklahoma Christian University will stage “The Tragedy of Tragedies, or the Life and Death of Tom Thumb the Great,” a farce by Henry Fielding, Feb. 19-20 and 26-27. The play will begin at 8 p.m. in Judd Theatre on the OC campus.

Fielding’s play remains one of the most lauded satires in English comedy. It focuses on the clichés of epic heroism, using Tom, a knight of very low status and height, as its principal agent. Through a series of mismatched marriages, Tom finds himself in a King Arthur court rivalry that only wits, courage and ribald humor can overcome. Suitable for ages 12 and up. For tickets, call the box office at 425-5540. Communication professor Barrett Huddleston directs the play.
